Dear Incentives Program Supporters
I want to tell you how much it meant to me to have help from this program. This year has not been a good year for me at all. After i got off probation I thought I was going to have a great year in school and at home untill my dad started spending all of our money on alcohol and my mom lost her job. We ended up losing our house and had to move into the interfaith homelss sanctuary in November of 2012. I was having a hard time in school and I didnt really feel like going anymore, untill I talked to the school social worker and she told me about Mr. Hawley and the incentives program. I went to talk to Mr. Hawley about this program and at first I just thought it was going to be some stupid thing where I have to sign a paper saying I agree to get good grades, but then Mr. Hawley asked if I needed anything and at first i was a little embarresed to ask for stuff but I told him I needed a bike to get around to fill out job applications and hopfully get to job interviews. He told me that if I agreed to get B’s or better he would give me a bike, at first I thought it was going to be an old bike that didnt work very well, boy was I wrong. When he showed me the bikes I saw a really nice mountain bike and instantly new how wrong I was. A few days later Mr. Hawley asked if I wanted to go to Bogus Basen and I said yes but I didnt have any gear. Again Mr. Hawley supprised me with all the stuff he had just given to me for free!! All I had to do was get B’s or better in all my classes. He gave me snow bording pants, a coat, gloves, goggles and a bag to carry everything in. Going to Bogus helped me to relax and have fun and it even helped me to get ride of some extra stress. On the 5th of march the catch program helped my mom get an appartment and is paying our rent for 6 monthes untill my mom can find a job. With that and all Mr. Hawleys help I am getting good grades for the first time ever in school and I have a place to live and I actually feel good about going to school which is completely new for me. To be honest I am kinda embarresed to admit getting all this help but for the first time in a long time I actually feel like I belong in school and can succeed in life. Before I met Mr. Hawley I was only going to school because my mom and my girlfriend wanted me to, but now I am going to school because I want to. Without Mr. Hawley and the incentives program I feel like I can be succesful even after I graduate. I could sit here and type all day about how the Incentives program has helped but I dont have the time so I want to thank everyone who has helped to keep this program going because it really has helped me in more ways than I can even count. So thank you all!
